Turkish GP judges fined Williams driver George Russell five starting positions, adding three penalty points for action in the first qualifying session in turn 3, when double yellow flags were showed. The same five positions penalty got McLaren driver Lando Norris.
The judges’ ruling says the Williams team’s racer did not slow down enough in the area of operation of the double yellow flags that were shown on the track when Daniil Kvyat turned around, which is a serious offense.
